This gift idea is in honor of my dear friend, Gemma, who just gave birth yesterday to an adorable baby boy. She works for Guess, the label behind this very cute blazer available now at Bloomies. Love love this look.

Secrets & The City

City Secrets lets you in to the ultimate book club, featuring 200 brief essays and recommendations by 150 esteemed figures in the literary world, including authors, writers, journalists, scholars, and critics. Contributors include big wigs such as Alec Wilkinson, Mark Strand,  Robert Pinsky, and Kenneth Turan.

To boot, a portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to First Book, a national organization that gives children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books.

So, this gift packs quite a punch, giving you and less fortunate families more to read.

Intermix bag for a cause

It’s no secret that I adore Intermix. They sell all kinds of goodies to make any fashionista, a happy girl, but this gift would make said fashionista, a happy and donation-inspiring girl.

Right now, they’re offering this one-of-a-kind tote bag for $48, with a portion of the proceeds going to Bright Pink, a national non-profit  that focuses on empowering high risk women to take care of their breast and ovarian health.

The exclusive design comes from contemporary artist Marilyn Minter. One side features a movie still from Minter’s art film, Green Pink Caviar.  In case you can’t remember which artist designed the bag (to brag to friends/family/fellow fashionistas), the back reads “marilyn minter green pink caviar presented by intermix for bright pink” in pink lettering. They’re smart over there at Intermix, I tell you…

I realize my fridge addiction may be going to far, but this Free People clutch is so cute that I had to post and it’s only $30!!! Please. It had to be done. And maybe one more night playing old country music? then we’ll stop, I promise.

Maybe it’s because we listened to country last night…

but I’m enjoying this fringe necklace from net-a-porter. Give it to your most daring fashion girlfriend and tell her to channel a little Tanya Tucker. Maybe put on an old country song. It’s more fun  than you think…
