Happy Dave Day!

Finally! DMB released its long awaited new album “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.” While the band sadly lost a member of the group,  saxophonist LeRoi Moore, while recording, the album does more than pay homage to their bandmate, it also shows a willingness to explore their music in new, diverse ways.  The LA times wrote this morning : “this isn’t simply a long eulogy. It’s more a renewal of band vows, made more intense by the loss of a key player.”

I’ve been listening and will start out by saying, it always takes me time to warm to a new Dave Matthews Band album. So far though, I’m pleasently surprised. The music is wide ranging and takes you for a ride that ends in two very soft songs, my favs so far: “My Baby Blue”  and “You and Me.” Check it out, see what you think and gift it on.

I don’t appreciate waiting four years, but am happy for the gift Dave’s band gave us today. You pulled it out in the clutch buddy, but it’s a worthy album.
